An initial flight test of the ejector/thrust reverser concept in 2006, adapted to a high gross weight 727F with MD80-styled pod engines, proved a fuel and noise reduction with the EP-80 Ejector/Thrust Reverser. Following this first flight test, additional CFD studies were conducted to more fully understand this nacelle installation. After 12 months and 30 separate case studies, the dynamics and mechanics of morphing the reverser into an ejector were more fully understood and a more effective leading edge of the ejector was engineered and installed.

The conclusions of these CFD trials were further substantiated by multiple addiontional flight tests, conducted by Dugan Kinetics and leading Flight Test Engineers.
